SONATA ARCTICA

It is hardly a coincidence that the uncrowned kings of Finnish melodic metal hail from Kemi, Lapland. Living so far up north amidst the breathtakingly dramatic scenery must influence your musical tastes somehow. Sonata Arctica's sounds reflect the good old Finnish values, such as honesty, loyalty and perseverance, but apparently their attitude also rings a bell elsewhere: they have filled venues up to capacity all the way from Japan to the USA.

The band's fifth album Unia ('Dreams', for you who slept through your Finnish courses), released in May, takes a slightly unexpected turn: the band has introduced into their music new nuances that hint towards prog rock influences. Even so, there is no doubt that the new songs will sound ace live – come and see for yourself!
