Last summer The Damned supplied Ilosaarirock with a piece of living history of punk rock, and this year another street-level super band is in the bag. The Business has been, well, in business almost from the very outset of punk rock. Formed in 1979, this legendary band is perhaps the best-known Oi! band around, and except for one short quiet moment in the 1980s they have been alive and kicking during all their career, unlike most of their peers founded in the stormy years of late Seventies.
Heirs and soul brothers to Sham 69, that flag-bearer of the honest working class punk rock, The Business uses rough-and-ready street sounds combined with singalong choruses to tell their tale of joys and sorrows of the mundane life. To join along in the noise is about as easy and entertaining as singing the club song in a football match, so jump in the pit and see why this band has been such a lifesaver for so many of us waddling through the dirt and drudgery of this world.
