Diskonto (SWE)

Until 2002, diskonto was the official interest rate of the Bank of Sweden. Also from Sweden, but otherwise rather far-flung from that formal mood, is the band called Diskonto. This not-so-ceremonial crust punk mob was born in 1992 when the youth of Uppsala came up with a better idea than sniff some more glue, and, inspired by Mob 47, Motörhead, Discharge and others, decided to have a band of their own. The end result has released five full-length albums by now, and since then the celebration of crust has been spread with tours all over Scandinavia and beyond. In 2006, the band released a compilation album Diskontography which, true to its name, is a snappy little introduction to all you need to know about interests in these financially uncertain times.
