Insomnium
Having conquered almost every Ilosaarirock Festival stage over the past years and rested for a year after that, Insomnium is back at their home festival again, this time in the darkening evening of the Metelli club. This band is always at its best when served in the close proximity of the members' boyhood playgrounds, but has also proven its collective capability of saying goodbye to Mum and Dad by touring the UK, the old continent and the USA.
The already high expectations towards the performance at this year's Metelli club are further boosted by the fact that Insomnium have spent the best part of the spring in the studio and have tentatively announced their new album to come out in September. As their earlier album Above the Weeping World came out already in 2006, we have had ample time to learn the band's earlier melancholy-ridden lamentations by heart and are hungry to hear more. And on the basis of the destruction that the band has brought upon Laulurinne in the previous years, we are preparing ourselves for a sight that suits to remind every spectator what makes Insomnium one of the standard-bearers of melodic death metal in this country.
