Maria Gasolina

The climate change feels very real when Maria Gasolina takes to the stage. This change, however, is not associated with global threats. Sooner, it is a question of musical waves that swish the Ilosaarirock Festival beach straight to the heat of Copacabana. A bunch of Helsinki-based musicians translates the Brazilian hit songs from the past few decades into unique, timeless compositions that make the sun speak Finnish but shine like in Southern America.

Since Maria Gasolina's latest appearance at Ilosaarirock Festival two years ago, the band has released another album, written a pile of new songs and gained more nuances in its expression. All that means an invitation for the audience to throw away whatever little fetters they have left and join the dance. A common rhythm, a common movement, a common smile – what more could a Brazilian summer evening need on a most beautiful Finnish day?
