Murmansk

When Murmansk's debut album Chinese Locks found its way to the CD player of yours truly for the first time, it was instantly obvious what the volume knobs are made for. Judging on how eagerly also the neighbours started drumming their walls, they also liked what they heard. This spring, the second album Eleven Eyes to Shade again shook the superfluous plasters off the ceiling. Murmansk is one of the bands that one would really like to see marketed also to the foreign alternative boys and girls, now, at this instant!

In the midst of Murmansk's storm is the vocalist Laura, smouldering with aggressive power while the rest of the band first builds a wall of darkly-painted substance and then lets it come tumbling down over you. This is not polite whinging by some five-cent heavy metal band, this is DANGEROUS stuff. If such Ilosaarirock Festival guests from previous years as Mogwai and ISIS pulled your heartstrings, you really should find yourself going berserk at Murmansk's gig.
