Nopsajalka & Sound Explosion Band
Nopsajalka built his fame in the ranks of such Finnish rhythm music icons as Soul Captain Band and Kapteeni Ä-ni, but moved on to work under his own steam a couple of years back and has now released two solo albums, the latest of which (5 sormee) came out in March. The new album sees the already versatile Nopsajalka extending his repertoire even further and taking influences from reggae, dancehall, ska, hip hop and soul. Nopsajalka's quick-footed and quick-witted performance is nailed down to the dear earth by the rhythms of the acclaimed Sound Explosion Band. These laid-back tunes suit Ilosaarirock Festival's Rento Stage like a refreshing rain shower suits a hot July day.
