The ever more handsome Rekka Stage received its baptism by fire as Satellite Stories, an indie rock band from Oulu, climbed on. The band, praised by several music blogs and featured on the MTV series Jersey Shore(!), had the audience a-jiving with their vibrant and energetic tunes. The positivity of their songs might even be considered daring in this day and age, but in the cosy atmosphere of the Rekka Stage they were most at home.The band itself thinks that artists from as far away as Oulu shouldn’t bother to go anywhere to play bad gigs, the distance to every venue is just too great for that.
Well, no reason to worry. This one, too, surely counts among the good. You couldn’t turn the foursome of Satellite Stories into generic rigid-as-a-post musicians even if you tried; they take to the stage with enough energy and humor to spare. Between songs the singer would keep on entertaining the crowd and, like so, ensuring that each audience member was able to continue their weekend in a most relaxed frame of mind. It has to be said, though, that the audience wasn’t quite as numerous as it could have been. Keep in mind, people, that going to gigs is always worth it!
