“Who’s going to go photograph Happoradio?”
“Is the Monroe review translated already?”
“Does someone have the time to write a story about the volunteers?”
Despite the yearly teething problems, the Ilosaarirock web press is once again churning out articles for you, dear festival guest. Reporters, photographers, translators and the accompanying entourage have found their way to the backstage of the Main Stage, power and network cables have been strung here and there and a fresh stash of notebooks has been bought. Cameras, laptops, network cables and stacks of paper (no, we’re not a paperless office, yet) fill the already cozy tent, assignments are being handed out on the fly and yet there’s time to groove with the sounds from the festival area, mainly the music from the Main Stage or Rento Stage. This year the web press is sharing the tent with the web TV team, so there’s no shortage of “atmosphere”.
For many of the media volunteers, yours truly included, this is the latest in a series of Ilosaaris spent doing what we love. There may be alternative ways to rock out at the festival, but year after year, this ragtag bunch of dozens of workers finds itself behind the Main Stage. It’s one way to enjoy Ilosaari.
