“I just want to scream”, sang the beautiful Kate Nash to the people at the packed YleX Stage. The mood was quickly elevated when the extraordinarily dressed artist played the piano, hardly remaining on her seat.

Kate was very symphatetic and her persona bears some resemblance to Little My from Moomin stories. The dress and the large hair ornament probably added to the image. Despite the cute appearance her vocal style and songs have a strong anarchist streak, which when you think about it, is very Little My as well.
The songs and the wild dancing is very easy to relate to when the show gets more and more intensive. And just when you think that maybe it’s getting a bit too intense, Kate turns the car around and heads to a complety new direction. Kate’s message rings loud and clear between songs when she criticises homophobia and encourages people just to love each other, regardless of differences. The show progressed from cutesy screaming to a social and political commentary, and Kate had time to talk a bit about womanhood in the 21st century.
And just when you think you could not ask for more, the gig ends with Kate’s grande finale, jumping on the keyboard.
