Much more than a punk rock song

Satruday’s opening act at the Sue stage Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät was a good reminder what punk is all about, attitude and nothing but attitude. People at the fully packed Sue stage wittnessed a powerfull gig that left everyone wanting more of the Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät experience.

Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät is without the doubt the most interesting phenomena the Finnish punk scene has seen for decades. The band was founded in 2009 in a workshop for the people with mental disabillities. Their songs are about things that annoys them, bringing punk to its very original roots. They started the gig by shouting “let’s make the shit stink” and the opening song called You are not normal left no one in doubt what the band is all about. During the gig the police, government and even the audience themselves got their share of Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät’s honest punk attitude which truly comes from the bottom of their hearts. Lead singer Kari Aalto‘s powerfull stage presence left the first five rows covered in spit and is something many so called punk bands should look up to. The crowded Sue stage was a definite sign for the head men of Ilosaarirock. Saturday’s fantastic gig at the Sue stage left everone wanting for more and hopefully next year we can see Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät on the main stage. If one wants to know more about the band one might want to chek their movie called The Punk Syndrome which was published in May 2012 and recieved good reviews globally.
