Alice in Chains, Portishead and Ellie Goulding to perform at Ilosaarirock Festival

Ilosaarirock Festival held in July in Joensuu, Eastern Finland, has announced a part of this summer's line-up. Finland and Joensuu will be visited by the grunge grandeur Alice in Chains, the creator of Bristol sound Portishead, the hottest British female artist Ellie Goulding, the Harlem rap artist A$AP Ferg, the Danish electronic musician Trentemøller, and the Swedish rock band Mustasch whose only Finnish gig of the summer will be at Ilosaarirock Festival. The performances of Rob Zombie and Haim at Ilosaarirock Festival were announced earlier. Ilosaarirock Festival 2014 will take place between 11 and 13 July. Joensuu's Ilosaarirock Festival is one of the oldest festivals in Finland and Europe. The first Ilosaarirock Festival was held in 1971. The festival is organised by the non-profit live-music association Joensuu Pop Musicians' Association. Ilosaarirock Festival is known for presenting alternative music, respecting environmental values and providing a relaxed and peaceful atmosphere. With bands such as Sigur Rós, Hot Chip and Imagine Dragons, the festival reached its newest crowd record of 55 000 visitors last year.

Ilosaarirock Festival is held at Laulurinne, Joensuu, in a cosy park area situated by the shore of Lake Pyhäselkä. In addition to international artists, the festival presents the most renowned Finnish bands and a selection of interesting new artists. On top of this, the festival involves various kinds of supplementary activities such as DJ's playing on the shore, skateboarding and roller derby competitions as well as film screenings. A part of the profits of the festival are donated to local bands in Eastern Finland.

The two-day festival tickets and one-day tickets are for sale at www.ilosaarirock.fi and www.tiketti.fi. The festival line-up will be finalised during the spring.
