Regina started as a project band between Iisa, the vocalist, and Mikko, the songwriter. The resulting tunes ended up in their homepage, and as the Internet grapevine started to work, soon the pair found it impossible to turn down all the gig offers they kept receiving. Eventually, Regina and the debut album Katso maisemaa took the cake in practically every reader's poll in the Finnish music magazines in the end of 2005.
Regina is sweet and charming, their synth pop has got a strong 80s influence, and yet they manage to avoid sounding the slightest bit like some unimaginative retro band. It is difficult to find any Finnish bands that could be compared to Regina, but such names as St. Etienne and early Ladytron often come up in Regina's reviews.
Regina starts their set at the End of the Festival club in the evenfall, when the warm July Sunday is turning to night. It is difficult to imagine a better setting for these lovely tones.
