SKANES

When Skanes was formed in Joensuu in 2004, all they wanted to do with the band was to have some fun. And my, did they get what they wanted. Ever since the beginning, they have been a much-desired party band in a variety of occasions, but probably their biggest crowd so far was in Ilosaarirock 2005 where they had the honour of opening the End of Festival club.

Skanes plays cover songs — traditional ska standards, but also ska versions of other classic songs. And they really have a habit of being a killer live band. They know the ins and outs of their instruments, they've got a horn section, and they know how to make even the most cynical musos give up sulking and dance like mad. Skanes fits the leisurely atmosphere of the Relax stage like a glove: snug but stylish.
