35-year-old Ilosaarirock Announces New Acts

Joensuu, Finland — Adding to an already promising line-up, Ilosaarirock has confirmed new acts, including The Darkness, Buju Banton and Blackalicious. The Festival, which has long been known for its cutting-edge line-up and unique atmosphere, has secured both Finnish and international acts to perform. The headliners include Mudhoney, Katatonia, Entombed, The Damned, Kid Koala and many others. In total, more than a hundred Finnish and international acts will be seen at the sunny three-day festival, organized in Joensuu, the capital of Eastern Finland.

In 2006, Ilosaarirock will celebrate its 35th birthday. During its entire history, the Festival has presented bands and artists from various genres of popular music. This year the music will be in a number of venues, including five stages and clubs, each portraying different types of music. There are also special birthday festivities organized during the festival weekend.

Another reason to celebrate is that it looks like Ilosaarirock will be sold out in advance for the tenth time. 2006 is also the tenth consecutive year of live Internet streaming from the Festival's main stage. Ilosaarirock were among the first to effectively use the web to serve customers and add a virtual dimension to the Festival experience.
