51 Koodia and the colours of Joensuu

03_51Koodia_MKH04.jpgThe rock pride of Joensuu, 51 Koodia, opened the YleX stage on Saturday. The band, which made its breakthrough couple of years ago, served its melodic rock with the usual style and energy.

The gulls that had wandered into the YleX tent stage got their share of the decibels provided by the band and the audience. The set included songs from their newest album and their debut, which was released a few years back. It seems that the band, that has its roots in Brit Pop, has found a working combination of hard rock and moody ballads.

Audience enjoyed the band’s music, and during their hit singles, rushed to the front of the stage. The gulls, on the other hand, seemed trash hysterically when the guitars buzzed.

The gig ended in an encore, during which the lead singer Hannu Sallinen appeared to the stage wearing the red jersey of the local football team, and the colours of the local ice hockey team were present on the stage. There should be no doubt where these guys come from.
