Ilosaarirock 2009 Festival Line-up Finalised, Ticket Sale Starts on May 4 2009
The programme of the traditional Ilosaarirock Festival in Joensuu, Finland is complete. Yet again, Ilosaarirock offers a wide selection of both domestic and foreign artists. At the top of the foreign selection are the British punk legends Killing Joke, playing in Finland for the first time in 20 years, and American hardcore/reggae legend Bad Brains. Other foreign acts include The Dillinger Escape Plan (USA), Dizzee Rascal (UK), ISIS (USA), Maxïmo Park (UK) ja Röyksopp (NOR). More alternative and non-mainstream music is presented by Dungen (SWE), Everything Is Made in China (RUS), Tragedy (USA) and Walls of Jericho (USA).
On the domestic front Ilosaarirock Festival offers many established names such as Children of Bodom, Stratovarius and Disco Ensemble. Ilosaarirock Festival also boasts a wide range of rising Finnish talents from electronic to heavier music, like The Capital Beat, Damn Seagulls, Huoratron, Major Label, Murmansk ja Rubik. One of the specialities of Ilosaarirock Festival is the Rento Stage, situated on a lovely beach by a lake and offering a genuine mini-festival of its own. This is the place where you should head for especially if the idea of Finnish reggae or hip hop seems unfamiliar to you. In addition to hosting a whole range of Finnish artists offering slightly more danceable material than what can perhaps be found elsewhere in the festival area, there is also a host of international acts performing at Rento Stage, like Femi Kuti & The Positive Force (NGA) and Beenie Man (JAM).
This year, also the clubs of Ilosaarirock host international guests. The Swedish Anna Järvinen and the Norwegian Maria Mena perform at Sulo Club. The Punk Club Töminä also gets a Swedish guest, when Diskonto take the stage. The Metelli Club presents heavier metal with Obituary (USA), Insomnium, Swallow the Sun and Scalping Screen. The festival comes to an end at the Closing Club on Sunday, where The Coffinshakers from Sweden will bring together creepy vampire tales, rockabilly and the dark country and western of the Deep South.
Started in 1971, Ilosaarirock is one of the biggest rock festivals in Finland. It has established a unique reputation among the music enthusiasts for combining a relaxed atmosphere with musical determination and professional dedication. Each year, some 100 bands play at the festival's five stages and numerous clubs. This year the festival takes place from July 17th to 19th. Ilosaarirock Festival is a member of YOUROPE – the European Festival Association.

Tickets
Tickets for Ilosaarirock Festival 2009 will be available at www.tiketti.fi from May 4 onwards. The two-day ticket costs 70 euros. The festival has been sold out in advance for several years, so act quickly to avoid disappointment.
