Rustic romance and regionalism
Lauri Tähkä & Elonkerjuu performed at Ilosaarirock now for the first time, but didn’t fail to raise the famous and familiar hysteria in the audience. The band has toured around Finland six weeks in a row, but tirelessly tested the audience’s choral singing abilities on Sunday evening.
Lyrics are familiar, check. Vocal ligaments are open, check. No need to hold back now! Oozing rustic romance and regionalism the group got the audience singing along until the voices were hoarse and people exhausted. Even if you weren’t familiar with the songs beforehand, you got to learn them during the show. And without a doubt the loud and clear-voiced sea of people made an impression on the band as well.
The role of the innocent sufferer fell on Tähkä’s leather pants when the singer climbed higher and higher up in the stage structures. If the band continues touring a couple more decades, Lauri Tähkä might become a stage climber equal of Michael Monroe himself.
