Music for good and bad moods? The story of Morley

MorleyAll you who think Oulu is a crap town: open your eyes and smell the coffee! From Oulu we have Morley, who are not Moses Hazy even if they enjoy the support of the very same audience base.Unlike their furry hippie brothers, Morley prefers their songs short, laced with strong melodies and a delicate balance of both good and bad moods, which are complemented by a three-man horn section. While this still works in the happier and lighter rock songs, from time to time Morley succumbs to the dark side of the force by trying to come up with more complicated material, which crashes and burns horribly.

The best moments of the gig were provided by a female guest vocalist, as her vocals stitched the songs into a tighter form and gave them the finishing touch. Yet, as Lebu Tsernobyl switched his electric lute for a banjo, the audience exploded into a full hoedown. A sight like this makes it easy to forgive the earlier lapses.

This package might not yet open the gates to rock heaven, but Morley can guarantee a danceable set of pop-rock yummie.
