Sick Of It All’s mellow clamouring
Legendary hardcore group Sick Of It All meant to land in Finland already in the spring, but the gig at Nosturi had to be cancelled. Another opportunity for the fans to see their favourite ambassadors of hardcore arose when Ilosaarirock snatched the New Yorkers into its gentle embrace. The gig was not as action-packed as the one by Raised Fist a year before, but the vocalist Lou Koller’s good-humoured racketing roused the keenest fans in the front rows into constant churning motion. The true powerhouse of the band with his tattoos, muscles, wifebeater and his insane stage manner, is nevertheless the guitarist Pete Koller. This genuine hardcore animal is a prime example of what HC is all about.
The group seasoned their toughest grinding with more easy-going and sunny punk, which did not bother the numerous hardcore fans that had been attracted to the festival by the chance to see both Sick Of It All and Terror on Saturday.
