Dunces, the Winner of the band competition held by the local newspaper Karjalainen convinced their audience at the truck stage. Guitar-driven metal was complemented by pyrotechnic effects and a guest feature by Tapio Wilska formerly of Finntroll.

Dunces are originally from Tohmajärvi (a small town of roughly 5500 inhabitants in eastern Finland) and are in the progress of completing their third full-length album. After their formation in 1999, they’ve created an impressive resume of performances all over northern Karelia and a gig in the metal club of Ilosaarirock.

During the gig, Dunces proved their years of hard labour have not been in vain. Their meticulous work has resulted in a tightly-knit, yet easy to approach and convincing metal band set out to conquer the world.
