 The last day of Saaripop was spent in sunny weather. Opening act was a Michael Jackson tribute band Queens and Kings of Pop. The band was formed about a year ago and became current a few weeks ago by a mournful event. Singer of the band Anna Halmetoja tells us that she was shocked to receive a text message in the middle of the night with the sad news as the King of pop was not a mortal figure for her. The idea to assemble a tribute band came in school when they were trying to figure a musical theme for the year.
The set was very versatile as the band played songs from every era of Jackson’s career not forgetting Jackson Five. The band was brave to leave out more known songs such as Billie Jean.
Susiraja Juhlaorkesteri performed with Osmo Ikonen. The multi-instrumentalist and Finland’s Eurovision 2009 tryout finalist was distinctively stoked to perform with another band than his regular one. Saaripops third and last day ended cheerfully with the sun shining and air full of soul.
