Teatteriravintola is packed with smiling faces and cosy laughter. Jaakko Teppo-tribute night is about to start. Crowd of all ages has gathered together to listen to a music that brings them all together and is so close to their hearts.
The Nights performances included among all others Kari Kuronen, Matti Muhonen as well as Ilja and Johannes Teppo. It is also the record release concert of last year’s couplet song contest winner Muhonen. A surprise audience is also granted by Hilma who arrived to the event to tell her side of the song about herself.
The crowd enjoyed variable performances, especially Matti Muhonen was appreciated for his interpretation is so similar to maestro’s himself. All in all the night was a success and brings similar minded people together every year. Jaakko Teppo did not perform but held a speech of thanks in the end.

We met Ville Härkönen in the Jaakko Teppo –tribute night as he was preparing to perform his one song tribute to the couplet singer. It is his fourth Jaakko Teppo –tribute night for Härkönen. As he has experience playing Jaakko Teppo covers even the maestro’s presence did not bother him. He tells us that Jaakko Teppo has been a familiar artist to him since childhood. After a 15-year long gap he found Teppos music again about ten years ago.
He has toured in Finland playing Jaakko Teppos tunes and has been delighted to notice that Teppo is appreciated throughout the nation in ever expanding crowds. Ville Härkönen spends rest of his summer with Samettivallankumous and has a couple of solo performances as well.
Heavy tuesday

Half an hour before the opening act on the second day of Saaripop it seemed that the day was going to be even rainier than Monday. Luckily otherwise happened. First to climb on stage was Joensuu based Increase with its metal and rock sounds. Opening act is not always the most thrived place on the act and Increase had to play for a relatively small audience before people started to show after the rain.
Serpenthia had acquired third place on the Rok it!-band contest and played next. Guitarist Erno Hulkkonen was really pleased after the gig. He told us that the 2001 formed band has been on a steady rise this year and the band’s future seems bright. Serpenthia has done a couple of demo tapes and more will be heard. He believes that Serpenthia fits well to metal scene in Joensuu as there are no other dark metal bands. Just moment before the third act, Depressure had some exciting moments as Jarno Väänänen had not arrived from the army barracks. Furlough was granted and Väänänen arrived just in time for the gig although he did not have time to change. The gig started a little bit late but after the hassle in the beginning went really well.
