A grand opening by Apulanta
The honorary spot of being the last band to play Friday’s Sulo club befell on Apulanta. The band wasted no time in proving they hadn’t travelled to Joensuu just to chill.
The first song out was Mitä kuuluu and it got the audience bouncing in mere fractions of a second. By the time of the last number, Jumala, hands were thrown in the air, even though singer-guitarist Toni Virtanen had some troubles with his gear. Pleasant surprises among the track listing were Mato, Liikaa and Kalamiehen toveri, all off 1997’s Kolme.

On Saturday Apulanta is playing another huge summer event alongside the German hair rock band Scorpions. The biggest surprise of the evening was hearing Apulanta perform Wind of Change a capella. Lauantaina Apulanta soittaa eräässä toisessa kesätapahtumassa, kuten tekee myös saksalainen Scorpions.
They finished of the gig with their newest hits Koneeseen kadonnut and Pahempi toistaan, but the people weren’t satisfied by that. An ear-splitting applause brough the trio back to the stage for three more songs. The last song was just as powerful as the first one: Anna mulle piiskaa spanked the last bit of energy from the crowd.
