Freshly squeezed juice from Hidria Spacefolk
An ordinary rock band treats its riffs as one chomp out of a Big Mac after another, Hidria Spacefolk’s guitarists let the III stage crowd in on a vintage wine tasting experience. They began slowly, allowing the crowd to sniff the wine, to take in its diverse aromas, and then to work up to the first sip.
From there–pardon the mix of analogies–they threw their music into the next gear. The drums and rumbling bass assured that the rhythm flowed, even when the guitars and keyboards flew off into their own worlds. Their music always came to the point where the whole band locked into the groove and transformed the riffs, really squeezing out the juice. They squeezed harder and faster until the last drop fell out and the crowd burst into applause.
The styles and grooves of Hidria Spacefolk come out to be rock’s equivalent to trance music. Their songs began with slowly repeated riffs gradually buidling in power and intensity. The intimate (i.e. small) III stage effectively imitates the atmosphere of a club, providing the seven to eight minute long pieces to capture the crowd’s interest at their own pace. Sip at your leisure, and enjoy.
