A story about love - Husky Rescue in Ilosaarirock

24_husky_ha_01-081Woosh! A dimly-lit tent; dusk; hands in the air, soap bubbles and angel dust. Husky Rescue begins, there’s tension in the air. The song builds up, up and up, until the first notes from Hurricane strike through the air. Synergy sweeps through the tent, the gates of love open and the five individuals on stage join in one with the enthusiastic audience. Minimal pop songs follow each other, beautiful notes dance in the air filling the room and escaping through the window.

Having freshly arrived from St. Petersburg, the orchestra performed with a dreamlike minimality. Setlist consists equally of older and newer material and the group, operating with a background tape, manages to reproduce the soundscapes from their studio albums.

At one point you’re forced to wonder if the magic can last through the whole set. During a calmer phase the mood notches a bit, until Summertime Cowboy explodes the general mood all the way to ionosphere. After passing the point of zenith, we never descend below stratosphere. The concert ends in heartful thanks from the group, and the five figures disappear into the dusk of night.
