Those who were expecting a sensitive troubadour to perform at the Sue-stage, were in for a disappointment or for a big surprise at the very least. Instead of a faerie prince, the audience was greeted by Ville Leinonen wearing a thick moustache, a jeans jacket and a pair of highway patrol sunglasses. This cool rockabilly rooster was accompanied by a trio called Majakan Soittokunta, equipped with a cello and a saxophone, and additionally with various pots and pans. The chameleon has once again changed its pattern.
As Ville Leinonen & Majakan Soittokunta were placed right in the middle of the festival day at Sue-stage, it provided the audience a moment of serenity. The shady tent fit the mood of their melodic and landscapic music, and the mood was complemented by the works of video artist Jonne Pitkänen.
The show took a theatrical and more bizarre turn at some point. Imagine this: Ville Leinonen wearing a white towel as a cape, singing into the microphone and Janne Lastumäki standing in front of the stage holding handbells in his hands as if they were the most precious objects in the world. After this the audience was woken up with more rock numbers. Puzzling, yet so stylish!
