Ranger

Ranger is one of the most exciting new acts in the Finnish underground metal scene. The band seems to be attracting an entirely unique sort of fan base, and not without a reason. Not only the music, but also the attire of the band draws heavily from the thrash bands of the early 1980s. Yet the twentysomething metalheads are so sincere in their dedication that you can't dismiss their act as a mere pastiche, and as soon as they grab their instruments, it's clear that we're talking business now.

Ranger's old-school heavy metal is as orthodox as it can get – even their sound recording systems are authentic – and it feels genuinely dangerous. Instead of computer-assisted polishing of the tracks until they sound as wild as Wednesday, Ranger prefers a sense of overdrive and fervour. This is deliciously refreshing stuff — check it out!
