Medeia thundered on the Rekka Stage

Medeia is a peculiar group in that it has, technique-wise, the chops to play the most mathematical heavy metal, but despite this, the band pulls off its gigs in a classy manner bearing testimony to a great sense of style. This was also the case when the band manhandled its way through its performance on the Rekka Stage on Saturday. The very sky above Joensuu seemed to darken as Medeia climed on the stage.

Keijo’s ungodly roaring, known to some from Rotten Sound, combined with Laura’s angelic choirs and keyboard riffs formed the sweetest, most craved for poison for many festival goers. The wildly churning hardly stopped during the entire gig. Crowd-rousing numbers from the newest record, Abandon All, and the preceding album, Cult, kept the heads in the audience spinning violently enough to provide wind power all through the entire 60 minute set. Care Bears, my ass! These bears eat all the porridge and kick Goldilocks’ ass.
