J. Karjalainen is not only one of the biggest and best songwriters in Finland, but in the entire world – that much became clear through the release of his latest single Oulu, Wisconsin. It is a petite and singular snapshot that seems to grow larger than life with just a few lines. The song feels ultra light, but its importance is significant, like (Sittin’ on) the dock of the bay significant.
The second coming of J. Karjalainen began with the release of his smash hit Mennyt mies back in 2013. It has been nothing but the triumph of classic rock since then and we have no reason to believe that this wouldn’t carry on till forever. J. Karjalainen has been dropping solid hit songs time and time again, and he and his band put on a live show that can only be described as an ode to singalongs. And as everyone at the Ilosaarirock festival office already knows, J. Karjalainen always brings with him that last bit of sunshine we need to chase the rain clouds away.
